and gold are beautiful materials to work with. Lately, I like
simplicity and asymmetry in my work, and aim to employ uncomplicated
shapes to create pieces that are subtle and wearable. I favour matt and
textured surfaces, softly oxidised silver, contrasting with flashes of
gold, sometimes using stones and glass. I look to many things for a beginning. I am enthused by the qualities and patinas of antique jewellery from ancient cultures. Particularly admiring the black and gold combinations used in oriental objects, and the contrast and change between light and dark. However, it is often the material and a feel for the shape and process of making that is becoming an important factor in my work.
