Sheila makes salt glazed domestic stoneware thrown on the wheel, mostly jugs, bowls, teapots and vases. Fired in a gas reduction kiln to 1300 c ,with salt introduced to give a mottled texture to the surface.
She also hand builds sculptural pieces in a red earthenware clay, partly burnished and partly textured. Fired to 1000 c and then smoke fired in a sawdust kiln. The finished pieces are then waxed to bring up the rich colour.
